You will need:
A White Sock
Styrofoam balls (one medium sized, one large sized)
Buttons (black, red and decorative)
Festive Fabric
Needle and Thread
Scissors
Exacto knife
Toothpicks
Pom-pom
Rubber bands
Step 1: Use the exacto knife to cut a flat side into the larger Styrofoam ball, this is so the snowman can stand up by itself
Step 2:Stick a toothpick into the centre of the larger Styrofoam ball, so that half of it sticks out the top. Stick the medium sized ball onto the exposed part of the toothpick to attach the two balls together. This should achieve the basic snowman shape
Step 3: Slip the sock over the two attached Styrofoam balls, the larger ball should be at the toe of the sock. Tie a rubber band around the intersection of the large and medium Styrofoam balls. Tie another rubber band at the top of the medium ball and cut off the extra sock fabric remaining.
Step 4: Sew the buttons onto the snowman in the shape of a smile. Use black buttons for the eyes and mouth, and a red or orange button for the nose.
Step 5: Use your scissors to cut a strip of your festive fabric and wrap it around the ‘neck’ of the snowman to create a scarf. Sew the decorative button onto the scarf to secure it.
Step 6: Take the leftover sock fabric and cut out the top ring of elastic, this piece should be about 1 inch in width.
Step 7: Fold your festive fabric in half so it forms a triangle shape. Place piece of sock top across the festive fabric so it spans its width, this is where to cut the fabric
Step 8: Sew the sides of the folded festive fabric together in its triangle shape. Make sure the back of the fabric is on the outside. After sewing, turn it inside out so that the seam is not showing.
Step 9: Sew the elastic sock top to the opening of the festive fabric to create the snowman’s hat. Sew the pom-pom onto the tip of the hat.
Step 10: Put your hat on the snowman and give him to your Fashion Friends!
